The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 +

This post is just general overview of the iPhone 6 and 6+ and nothing too in-depth, but feel free to read on. First, let's take a moment to mourn the fact that the iPod Classic is no longer on sale, the iPod which started it all has faded off the shelves at Apple and no one took the time to acknowledge that.

Now on to business, the most noticeable difference in these two new phones is the size of the screens. If you have ever seen a a galaxy s5 the iPhone 6 is about the same size and the iPhone 6 plus is slightly larger.

A8 and M8 processors - The A8 processor and M8 processor makes these phones faster than their predecessor and  increases the phones movement sensing abilities for applications such as Argus which measure your steps in the background without killing your battery. A little note for all you, if your iPhone has an M processor which I believe began with the iPhone 5 your phone has already been measuring your steps, so I encourage you to download a step counting app and take advantage of this.

802.11AC - This wireless radio will have a longer range and be able to pick up signals at a farther distance. Having this radio will allow you to use better bands of wireless frequency, which would give you faster wireless speeds. It's the latest in wireless technology, but keep in mind that many places still aren't using AC routers but it's nice to have the technology as it becomes more popular.

NFC- This is the game changer. Having NFC technology will allow you to take advantage of Apples new Apple pay which allows you to pay at cash registers wirelessly. Now many of you may ask don't I already have Bluetooth technology? Yes you d., Near Field Communication is a similar form of Bluetooth technology which is more secure and uses less battery. If you are wondering about cyber security it is said that Apple Pay will use a different card number per transaction to help keep your credit cards safe, this is a feature which many credit card companies allow you to use already, so that you can use a one time use CC# for online transactions, consult with your CC company for more information.

Battery life - with both phones battery life will be improved compared to its predecessors with the 6+ receiving the bigger battery to support that huge screen allowing it to have extended usage.

Those are most of the changes coming to the iPhone in terms of hardware most of the other changes will come with iOS 8 which you can download on your current iPhone, starting Sept. 17. There are many conspiracy theories that say that your iPhone gets slower when new iPhones come out. This may be true, but from a technological POV this is mostly due to the fact that you are installing a newer software which requires a better processor, on to your old phone and putting more stress on it and requiring it to do more work. Now Apple does make changes to help their new software run on older phones but there is only so much that they can do.

iOS vs Android - it's all about the user, both OS are great but Android is best left in the hands on users who want to root their phone and make changes, otherwise I still believe iOS is a great software especially for regular users. Many of you will also argue that android has had this technology long ago, also true. It's all a marketing and business scheme, I applaud apple for not having to release the latest technology and waiting for it to be perfected and still have the sales and revenue that they have, so I cannot blame them for doing this if it is working for them.

Recommendations - the new iPhone 6 and 6+ are great phone and if you have an upgrade I say go for it! now with that being said if you have an iPhone 5 and 5s and you are not bored of your phone with an iOS 8 you will get most of these software updates so I would suggest stashing your upgrade and giving iOS 8 a test run, if you figure out that you want most of the hardware upgrades available on the 6's then you can move forward with those. If you have an older iPhone I recommend that upgrade to a newer model in order to have better use of some of the software updates, and because having a newer phone increases the amount of time that your phones technology will be relevant, with that being said it is your money so it is up to you to make this decision.

Thanks for reading my blog post and I hope you appreciate my amateur take on this, feel free to let me know your thoughts and anything you might want to hear about. Also I am obligated to inform you that as of the time of this post I have invested interest in Apple and GT Advanced Technologies stocks.
